47 books on this site have won two or more major literary prizes. Juries meet separately, read to different remits and rarely agree, so a book that takes two prizes has satisfied two sets of readers who were never comparing notes. The largest group by far is science fiction, where the Hugo and the Nebula land on the same novel far more often than chance explains. The second is American letters, where the Pulitzer and the National Book Award have shared a book sixteen times since 1954. The rest are one offs, and they are the interesting ones.
